Meet Velveeta! Velveeta is a female black labrador retriever who was born April 13, 2021. She is an extremely playful and loving puppy. She lives with dogs of all ages, genders, and sizes and has made quick friends with everyone. Velveeta does live with a cat who she isn't very interested in. Velveeta is crated when alone at home and overnight without issue. She is also working on her potty training and does best with a schedule. If you do not take her out in time, she will use a potty pad if one is available. Velveeta has met children and loved them! Velveeta is incredibly cuddly and loves nothing more than being with her people. She also has amazing recall, even when distracted.

Velveeta came to us from a reputable breeder out of state after her and some of her littermates began showing symptoms of a condition called megaesophagus.

Velveeta does have a mild form of this condition and it is easily managed. She is given a pill roughly 30-45 minutes before meals to help her stomach move food through her system. She eats twice a day. Her dry food is ground into a powder and then mixed with water to a mush texture. She is fed standing up and with the use of a slow feeder bowl. After eating, she needs to stay in an upright position for 30 minutes. Right now, she spends her time in a Bailey Chair without complaint. Velveeta cannot eat straight kibble and cannot drink water.
