Meet Baxter. Baxter is a 10-month-old Pug who was surrendered to Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue because his family could no longer afford to provide for him. Baxter suffers from an undiagnosed ailment that causes him extreme pain, vomiting, and lethargy. Our first thought was that he may be suffering from a food allergy. We've tried several different high quality grain and gluten free options with no success. We've tried a homemade low fat, lower protein bland diet with no improvement. He is currently stabilized on a flash frozen venison raw diet. Baxter is extremely thin weighing only 14 pounds, considering his frame is taller and longer for your average Pug. Aside from his physical condition, Baxter is a very sweet boy. He's eager to love and show affection. He's very busy, as most puppies are. When feeling his best he loves to run around his backyard and wrestle with his foster sister, Lola.

Before Baxter is available for adoption he will need further testing. We are hoping for a diagnoses in hopes that we can better plan care to meet his needs. Please consider making a donation on Baxter's behalf. He deserves to live the worry free life of a normal happy-go-lucky Pug boy.
