Gianna is a sweet 9 week old boxer puppy. She was surrendered to a shelter because she was "sick." Her and her brother, Chase came so close to death's door until one of the shelter staff members offered to take them home and begin their treatment. A few days later, Gianna and Chase got their golden ticket and travelled all the way from Kentucky to the safety of Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue.

All that Gianna asks for is to be able to love and be loved in return. She has demodectic mange. It is not contaigious and transmitted from the mother to her puppies at birth. Some dogs have a genetic resistance to it and other dogs don't. What had likely began as missing hair around the eyes and the face has now turned into a much more severe case because she and her brother Chase were not taken to the vet when the symptoms began. What is even worse to think about is that her owners believed that motor oil cured the mange and slathered these 2 beautiful puppies in it before giving up and surrendering them to the shelter. Gianna is definitely a tough cookie. She also has a hernia that will be repaired as her health improves.

Gianna is such a happy girl who just wants to be held and loved. She learns quickly and just loves snoozing in her foster mom's arms and curling up with the other dogs in her foster home. She is doing well with her potty training and is using the puppy pad for most of her business. Her foster mom is excited to help teach her all the things puppies at her age need to learn like walking on a leash, and the basic commands and manners. She loves the other dogs in the house and plays tug of war with her foster sister, is great with kids, and would probably be fine with cats as well. She loves treats- especially french fries (shhh.. these babies deserve some extra special treats here and there!) and has a healthy appetite! We know that her skin is painful, weak and irritated but Gianna doesn't let that stop her. She instantly puts a smile on her foster mom's face with her funny puppy antics and we are sure she will put one on yours as well! Please stop by our adoption center in East Rochester to visit her in the coming weeks! She loves attention, no matter where it comes from!!

Those big brown eyes say it all for us. These babies needed help and did not deserve to die in a shelter because someone made a promise to them and did not keep it. Please consider sponsoring Gianna and Chase for their time in rescue. A lot of special baths and medication will be needed to make them feel better. But once they are cleared of mange and their hair begins to grow back, we will have these babies spayed and neutered so they can go to their forever homes!

Gianna will remain on medical hold until she is healthy enough to go to her forever home. If you can see the beauty in this girl that we see, please submit your adoption application today!

Gianna is being fostered in Rochester.
