Amelia, also known as Sweet Pea, came to rescue as a stray who was never claimed. From what we can tell she is anywhere from 2 to 7 years old and a Chihuahua mix. Dog control and vets guessed her ages quite differently. She was found in very rough shape and we couldn't help but try to give her a shot at a new life. She had horrible skin issues along with a nasty cough. She was also overweight and her nails had grown into her paw pads. With all of these issues, her mobility was very little. She had seemed to have almost given up on herself and seemed depressed. "Pea" did have faith in couple of people though and would give them "kisses." After one month in her foster home, she was a different dog. Her cough has vastly improved with meds (she will need Lasix for life), her skin and coat, her mobility, and she lost weight. She is absolutely beautiful. Most importantly, she has regained her zest for life. Pea will run (it's more of a fast paced walk but hey, I can't run either). She'll look back at you to make sure you're still there and it looks like you're getting the cutest side eye ever. She is happiest on the couch with her person or on her dog bed, under a blanket. She would be okay in a home with or without a fence as long as she's watched in an area without one. Pea does roam the yard but she's not a fast runner with her little legs. She can go up most steps but hasn't mastered (nor really attempted going down them). Sweet Pea is very low energy and just wants to lay around all day. She is housebroken but with being on Lasix, has had a very occasional, pee accident while her foster parents are at work. She does try to pee on a pee pad thats been left down for her. She does well on car rides and with baths. Pea doesn't bother with the cats in her foster home. She doesn't like the dogs that are high energy and in her face but is fine with calm dogs like her. She HATES when they go by her food but has no issue if a human does it. She's not destructive so she doesn't need a crate. If you are interested in meeting her, fill out an application today!
